When Noel, a homeless man, appears in the dying town of Miller's Creek a group of kids decide to secretly help him get back on his feet.
When their plan is discovered, the adults must choose between removing Noel, who may be a burden to their town, or helping him get back to better. Led by the unrelenting force of will by the kids, the town joins the kids in their quest to help Noel. They are surprised to find that the more they help Noel, the more they see magical things happen. The partnership between Noel and the kids gives birth to new life in the dying town. The resident's of Miller's Creek discover that by rescuing Noel they are really rescuing themselves.
The only one opposed to the town's new direction is the mayor of Miller's Creek who appears to want to sabotage Noel's recovery. The stronger Noel gets, the more the town starts to thrive; so, the mayor is, in reality, sabotaging his town's recovery. The residents soon discover that the mayor is not trying to protect the town, as he claims, but has a darker motive for wanting to see Miller's Creek destroyed.
The health of Miller's Creek is caught in a battle between life and death. We follow the story from the dead of winter, to spring, when new seeds are planted; to summer, when the fruit grows; to fall, when it is time to harvest, and finally back to winter, when the town is restored and Noel's secret is uncovered.
